A mixture of curiousity and fear of being left behind has finally motivated me to ‘get involved’ in blogging and although I find it highly unlikely that others will take the time or care enough to read my ramblings, I have decided to throw caution to the wind and do it anyway.
I think that one of the main reasons I haven’t done this earlier is because I am genuinely scared of what others think of my thoughts. Blogging to me, is such an exposing outlet to express my views – after all, the whole world is watching, seeing and judging. I feel as though everything I post is potentially subject to ridicule and once it is out there, anything I write is very difficult to take back.
However, despite this I am ready to take on this new challenge and embrace the joys of blogging in the hope that it will grant me a better understanding of both myself, and new technology.
I like this view, and quite agree that it is time to overcome the fear of ridicule, the old point and laugh scenario!
At the end of the day the facelessness of the internet should be enabling this fear to subside. Yet when I post on a forum, quite anonymously, I generally read and re-read what I have written, scruitnizing it from as many points of view that my verging-on-scitzophrenic self can handle before it really is time to re-medicate!
Doing this I try to anticipate all the possibly modes of rejection that might be experienced, by which time I usually delete what has been written in true cowardly style!
Herein I pledged never to delete potential postings of passion and I urge you to do the same!
As you have already proved me wrong in my original thought that no-one would care enough to read my posts, I will too, will attempt to do the same. Even with anonymity, I feel it is still difficult to overcome the fear of being ‘wrong.’ However, if it sparks debate or dialogue that can help me develop my personal reflection and articulation of thoughts then I’m in! Good Luck, and i hope to hear of your pasionate posts soon.
There is always some fear in the mix when your doing something new. That’s why I love blogging because I believe it is a real chance to exercise the right to freedom of speech. I have to censor myself when I am talking to people in person but online you can offend anyone and all they have to do is refrain from reading it.
Blogging is meant to fun. at least I think so. keep going
It’s the best way to vent all those frustrations life throws in your face. To say things that would normally just be floating around that space between your ears. Why bother to edit what you write? The only way others will know what or who you are talking about is if you tell them. The great thing about being human is the undying need to get knowledge, see and hear anything regardless of whether it will offend.
Blog away and let the entire world know what you think, it might even have a positive effect on what others think.
